I am really thankful to you. I gave my words that I would come to your place.
It is half past four in the morning –
See ? I am opening my door. I shall go out to meet you at your place.
Outside is not visible without the street lamps still helping.
Nobody is out, not a single one. Even my house owner is sleeping. This is my workplace in Murshidabad of India and I live here in this two layered rented house, on the first floor.
Let’s keep the door ajar. My house owner knows I’ll be getting out.
I step out as unusual and start walking through the lane. If somebody spots me in this half-light, he will surely, unknowingly think I am a person with a bad intention.
The smell of a very familiar kind bestirred my senses. I remember this smell very well. It is the first smell of earth, which I used to breathe when I was a little boy. The fresh morning air also contributes to making this special morn scent of the undisturbed nature.
I felt cheery inside to walk ahead.
Throughout my way from the lanes, one after another, to the road, I breathed in this faint, inexpressible smell created by the mixed elements of the nature that surround us.
Everywhere around I could see the moistness. Everything dressed in new, soaked in last evening rain – the little grassy path, leaves and flowers of the plants, the sideways, the bricks, stones everything so fresh.
I took a long stride to go over a pothole filled with rain water. That’s the only little sound I made. Without that there is no noise to mention. Even birds are not fully awake. The whole environment is so calm and serene.
After a little more walking, I found the black four-wheeler on the road. It was waiting for me. The road looks darker as it still retains marks of water. As I got to the car, my driver, with a familiar face, opened the front door. He held it out for me to get in.
‘Good morning sir’, he said.
‘Very good morning’, I replied to him as I got in.
I pulled the door towards me with a shut and asked him, ‘have you taken a sip of your morning cup of tea?’
He answered, ‘not yet sir’.
‘Well then, we’ll be having it together’, I said.
He smiled to say, ‘Ok, sir’. Then he adjusted gears and sped the car. He knew where to go.
I was awash with the nice cool air rushing in. The beautiful natural scenery started to recede behind the car window.
But, today I was not going to be pleased with these things while I myself sat inside the car. I will be assimilating every happy moment right out of a coop.
This time no nearness would make me happy. I want to be in it, I shall be in it. This will to spread myself should not be restricted by any limit.
