When I grew up and saw more people around, I realized apparently funny men, actually may not be funny. Sometimes, these people do the hardest things in the simplest way beyond their capacity and break themselves for the members who depended on them. And, sometimes, these people wear a clown’s cloak to look funny as they know others will be happy to ignore them. They know very well that maintaining a low-profile is far better than maintaining a high-profile. Because, ‘the low’ has ignoring, which allows you to go ‘your way’, but ‘the high’ has the expectation, which wants you to go ‘their way’.
He went his way. Why he wore a ‘dhuti’ in his 30s, while his contemporaries wore shirts and trousers, is still a mystery to me. Because, ‘dhuti’ – once characteristic of the Bengali Hindus, had been discarded by the Hindu Bengalis, except the oldies, by then.
The more I stop rediscovering people like him, the better it is for today’s fancy living.
